Jasper MedTech has had a profound impact on the medical device industry, developing medical prothesis, instruments and workflow solutions for over 25 years, with the concepts helping millions of patients and thousands of surgeons worldwide.

Early projects and designs focused on balloon and expansion technologies for general and reconstructive surgery.

Jasper MedTech pioneered minimally invasive spinal techniques for Cortical Bone Trajectory surgery, and developed key concepts for retractor instrumentation, being the primary designer of the worlds most used percutaneous pedicle screw system.

Jasper MedTech is widely known throughout the industry as a primary thought innovator for integral-fixation systems for spinal surgery and designed the world’s first integral fixation Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion implant.

Jasper MedTech’s more recent developments include medical wearable devices for gait analysis to enhance objective patient monitoring. The founder and team leader, Dr Mobbs, inserted the world’s first 3D-printed customised implant into a patient with spinal cancer, and continues to be a pioneer in the industry, known for promoting patient specific surgical options and workflow solutions.

Current Affiliations

Professor Mobbs is the principal of medical design company, Jasper MedTech (JMT). JMT is involved in the design of surgical instruments and implants including tissue expansion systems, endoscopic retractors, prostheses, integral fixation systems and wearable medical technology.

Jasper MedTech’s specialised Wearables and Gait Assessment Research (WAGAR) team is a world thought leader linking gait, balance, activity, and stability with the aim to assist in positive health outcomes. WAGAR published the first article on the use of wearables for objective/subjective assessment of post operative spinal patients.

Jasper MedTech work closely with the NSURG Research Group, which conducts research in neurosurgery and spine surgery, science and bio-mechanical studies, innovative surgical techniques, clinical trials and evidence-based research to improve outcomes for patients facing spine surgery.

Neuro Spine Clinic specialise in a range of conditions and treatment options including minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery. Jasper MedTech have helped deliver positive patient outcomes with their technology and specialist medical devices.

Mobbs is Professor of Neurosurgery at University of New South Wales that includes brain surgery, spinal surgery, cerebrovascular/endovascular surgery, functional neurosurgery, peripheral nerve surgery, pain neurosurgery, paediatric neurosurgery and oncology.

Jasper MedTech’s team regularly contribute research articles to the Journal of Spine Surgery. The quarterly journal is dedicated to the field of spine surgery, science and clinical outcomes to provide critical analysis and a comprehensive overview of contemporary topics within the field of spine surgery.
